Engage in an informal conversation with local innovators, entrepreneurs, creatives, and makers. Hear more about their unique backgrounds and how you can get started making and doing.
Lynn Warner is a retired Michigan City Area Schools elementary school teacher and longtime resident of La Porte. His first memories are of figuring out how things work. This curiosity led him to make things and/or modify things he saw with varying degrees of success. His mother’s crafting skills contributed to his creativity, while his father’s work as a tool and die maker influenced precision and mechanics in his woodworking.
His work includes wooden Quilt blocks, expandable trivets, Shaker boxes, working wooden padlocks, a working treadle scroll saw, folding pocket knives, and postage stamp jigsaw puzzles. To add an extra challenge, Lynn gravitates to projects with complicated articulation and miniature scale. He has demonstrated his woodworking skills at the Indiana State Fair for over twenty years, and at the La Porte County Fair for a number of years. He is generous with his time and skills, and enjoys sharing what he has learned whether it’s presenting for woodworking clubs or in LPCPL's Exchange Makerspace.
