Friends of the Library

Friends of the La Porte County Public Library logo

As an independent nonprofit, The Friends support the Library through fundraising, advocacy, and programming so that our community can thrive and grow. Their support is essential to the continued success of the Library. The Library depends on the generosity of Friends like you.

The Friends of the Library fundraising efforts provide funding for programming and initiatives of the Library such as the annual Summer Reading Program and other reading programs and author visit events. Through grant-writing they have been able to sponsor initiatives like the Digital Navigators TechPacks.

Join them in support today by making a gift in a way that works for you. The Friends are a 501c(3) non-profit organization.  Libraries are so much more than books. The best way to support theLibrary is to use it, and to donate when you can!

Ways to Give

Kroger Rewards:

The Kroger Community Rewards program is an ideal way to support the Friends of the La Porte County Public Library. The program allocates funds to participating organizations based on the purchases that family and friends of the organization have made at Kroger using their Kroger Plus card. To use the Kroger Community Rewards Program, register your Kroger Plus card online at krogercommunityrewards.com.  Enter Friends of the La Porte County Public Library or our NPO number (38502) and click on confirm and you are ready to go!

Ongoing Book Sales:

Several LPCPL locations have a special section of shelves for a Friends of the Library book sale. There are suggested prices for the items on the book sale shelves. The sale operates on an honor system with cash boxes for donations located near the shelves.  Don’t need more books for yourself? You can purchase items to add them to a Little Free Library, or set up book swaps in your community. You may also use books for crafts including decoupage, paper folding or paper mache.

Dine Out for Dollars for the Library:

Thanks to the generosity of participating local restaurants, you can enjoy a meal and the Friends of the Library will receive a portion of your purchase. View upcoming Dine Out opportunities.

Direct Donations:

You can contribute online with a credit card or send a check by mail. Or mail a check to:

Attn: Friends of the Library
904 Indiana Ave.
La Porte, IN 46350

If you wish to designate your donation to a particular program such as Summer Reading, STEAM Camps, or Dolly Parton Imagination Library please indicate that with your donation. Remember, The Friends of the Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization so donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
