Water/Ways Exhibit

Water / Ways 2021 Tour brought to you by Smithsonian and Indiana Humanities

La Porte County Public Library, in partnership with La Porte County Soil and Water Conservation District, is proud to be selected by Indiana Humanities to host a traveling Smithsonian Institute exhibit as part of their Museum on Main Street initiative that brings quality exhibitions to rural communities.

The exhibit entitled, Water/Ways, is a salute to the role water plays in our lives and will be on display inside the Rolling Prairie library location August 14th through September 26th. La Porte County is the 2nd stop on the exhibit’s six-community tour throughout Indiana. In addition, special educational events will be held in conjunction to the exhibit.

Community members can visit our StoryWalk® at Creek Ridge County Park to learn more on how to be a good water neighbor.

La Porte County on the Water

LaPorte County Public Library and LaPorte County SWCD partnered up to create “On the Water”, a multimedia digital essay exploring our relationship with nature.

Additional sponsors:

La Porte County Soil and Water District, La Porte County Parks, Kankakee River Basin and Yellow River Basin Development Commission

Made possible by a Lake Michigan Coastal Grant that the Soil and Water Conservation District received.
