Everyone has health concerns. People within the transgender community can have additional questions and unique concerns that are complicated by social and political factors. Check out these resources to get the basic information to help you navigate healthcare concerns and issues. 


Map of Healthcare Laws and Policies

This resource from the Movement Advancement Project shows maps of where in the U.S. there are and are not legal protections against transgender discrimination for public and private healthcare services. It also shows maps for where there are legal protections against transgender discrimination for other issues such as employment and adoption. 


Transgender Health Care

This resource from covers some basic information about how transgender-specific medical care is handled in the Healthcare Marketplace, the U.S. marketplace for government-provided affordable healthcare. 


Gender Identity 

This resource from Planned Parenthood discusses topics such as how to know if you identify as transgender and coming out. It also gives a brief overview of common options people could take to transition.


Gynecological Care for Trans Men

This resource from Mayo Clinic has a list of healthcare concerns trans men should consider whether you are transitioning or not. 


Prostate and Testicular Cancer Considerations in Transgender Women

This resource from the University of California is a brief summary of health concerns trans women should consider whether you are transitioning or not, and how various transitioning procedures affect your risk.
