Today is National Bookmobile Day!

13 Apr Today is National Bookmobile Day!

Each year, the American Library Association celebrates National Library Week (April 10-16, 2016) and Wednesday is all about bookmobiles! National Bookmobile Day “celebrates our nation’s bookmobiles and the dedicated library professionals who provide this valuable and essential service to their communities every day.”  La Porte County Public Library has a proud tradition of Outreach services, offering Mobile Library service for over 70 years. Our Mobile Library and Doorstep Delivery services help provide library resources to members of the community that may not have access to a traditional library location.

As we begin construction projects, our Mobile Library will have additional community stops throughout the county and city of La Porte. If you have never used our Mobile Library, hop on board when you see us parked and take a look around!

You can visit the online calendar of events for a schedule of our community stops. Filter the calendar by location and select “Mobile Library” to just see our stops. Community stops are open to the public and will be at the following locations this summer:

  • Briarwood Apartments
  • Carriage House Apartments
  • Country Acres
  • Hesston Supper Club
  • Johnson Township Community Building
  • La Porte Farmer’s Market
  • La Porte Goodwill Store
  • Mill Creek Baptist Church
