Final OverDrive Big Library Read Event for 2019

Big Library Read (BLR) is back, and we’re thrilled to announce the final winning title is: I’m Not Dying with You Tonight by Gilly Segal and Kimberly Jones. This novel is an incendiary experience, one that does not shy away from difficult questions about privilege and violence.  It has been called a vital addition to the YA race relations canon. There is a note of caution with this title as it contains sensitive subject matter.

I’m Not Dying with You Tonight will be available for unlimited access on the La Porte County Public Library’s OverDrive-powered website for two weeks, between November 4-18, for the duration of its lending period. The title will include a promotional spotlight at the top of our page.

So far in 2019, OverDrive has launched two other BLR events in which the La Porte County Public Library has participated.  The first title, Homes: a Refugee Story (April 1-16), received 16 checkouts during its event period; A Dangerous Act of Kindness (June 17-July 1) garnered 49 checkouts during its event period.

During the event, these titles are available as simultaneous use, meaning multiple people can access them at the same time, and there are no waitlists or holds.  We do have other simultaneous use titles in our collection, but these BLR titles receive 30% use of the entire simultaneous use collection.

Happy reading!
