October 4th LPCPL Exchange Grand Opening!

La Porte County Public Library is excited to announce the Grand Opening Celebration of the LPCPL Exchange at 807 Indiana Avenue on October 4th from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Have you been by the building and found yourself curious about what’s inside? This is a great opportunity to come in and check it out!

Join us for all the fun:

  • Ribbon Cutting
  • Light Refreshments
  • Project Goodie Bags (while supplies last)
  • Guided Tours
  • Makerspace Demos

The Exchange is a multi-use community space dedicated to connecting people and ideas while removing barriers to equipment access. Community members can reserve study spaces, use open seating, or access a variety of equipment free of charge.

“La Porte County Public Library is a place of equitable access for our community,” said La Porte County Public Library Director, Fonda Owens. “We wanted to create a place for the community to connect with others, enhance their job skills, discover new hobbies, start businesses, and much more.”

The building contains two meeting rooms, a large classroom, audio and video recording studios, sewing machines, design software, 3D printers, soldering equipment, a CNC milling machine, wood lathes, and more.

Aimee is our UX and Trainer, but not the type that makes you skinny or buff. She has been a trainer for nearly 15 years, with a focus in technology. She is also a coffee-drinker, audiobook addict, mom, and cat collector. Much of her spare time is spent in a gym watching volleyball. She escapes to a beach or pool whenever she can. She is also a soup making champion as she has won the library’s soup-off competition two years in a row!
