Ishiguro Wins Nobel Prize in Literature

05 Oct Ishiguro Wins Nobel Prize in Literature

The 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to English author, Kazuo Ishiguro. Sara Danius, the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy,¬†describes Ishiguro as a¬†“mix of Jane Austen and Franz Kafka, then you have Kazuo Ishiguro in a nutshell, but you have to add a little bit of Marcel Proust into the mix. Then you stir, but not too much, then you have his writings…. He doesn’t look to the side. He has developed an aesthetic universe all his own.”

If you have never read any of Ishiguro’s novels, now is your chance! These titles are currently available at the Library:

Never Let Me Go

An Artist of the Floating World

When We Were Orphans

The Buried Giant
