Did you know that LPCPL has several options for reading along with a book? Reading along with an audio track can help readers further their skills and gain confidence in reading. Ready to find some resources?

LPCPL has a growing collection of picture books on dvd. These dvds follow along with a story in words and animation. These books include fiction, such as Lulu the Llamacorn, as well as nonfiction, such as The Youngest Marcher: the Story of Audrey Faye Hendricks, a Young Civil Rights Activist.

There are also several VOX books, which are popular titles that have the audio component built into the book. VOX books read along as the pages are turned. Some VOX titles include I’ll Love You Till the Cows Come Home and Home for a Penguin, Home for a Whale.

In addition, LPCPL has easy books that include an audio CD. Titles with book and CD include Lu and the Swamp Ghost and The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.

To easily find these readalongs in our catalog, use the following subject terms to search:

If you can’t make it in to grab a physical book or dvd, consider using Scholastic Bookflix. This online resource contains books on a variety of subjects and lets readers watch stories and read along in books on the screen!
