Anxiety can run high with so much unpredictability on what lies ahead. As we are in times of uncertainty, it’s important to find ways to destress and take care of yourself.
From the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Manage Stress and Anxiety, here things you can do to support yourself:
- Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
- Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs.
- Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
- Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
We may not be able to do things the way we are used to doing them, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look for different ways to exist and find joy while we work through this time together. Take care of yourself and do what you need to help you through this. You are important.
