Coming Soon: Launchpads at the Library

If you’ve checked out a Sharing Kit from the library lately, you’ve probably already encountered a Launchpad. If you’re unfamiliar, imagine a tablet that comes preloaded with games and videos to help engage youth on a variety of science, math, and reading-related subjects.  Unlike a tablet, these devices do not need an internet connection to work, just make sure the battery is charged with the included power adapter.

Due to the popularity of the Launchpad kits, we will now be offering Launchpads as standalone items to checkout from any library location! Whether you are teaching at home, looking for a way to keep kids engaged with their studies, or just need access to new learning materials, the Launchpads have you covered. These devices are 100% secure, and provide no access to content outside the curated content that comes pre-installed. Let the kiddos have some fun screen time in a productive and educational way.

Launchpads aren’t just for kids! We will also be adding a selection of educational titles aimed at teens as well as learning tools for adults practicing English as a second language, and memory games to keep your mind sharp.

Standalone Launchpads will go out for 2 weeks, just like books and will be renewable twice as long as no one else is waiting! All account types will be able to check out one device per account with the exception of the print-only preschool cards.

Once the Launchpads arrive, they will be available for use in the Play, Grow, Read! areas at each location as well as on the shelf for browsing.
