LPCPL SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

La Porte County Public Library has summer internship opportunities starting in May.

Our student interns have the chance to explore career interests with a well-rounded learning experience. We encourage our interns to provide new and original ideas and perspectives as well as gain skills in technology and communication, working with teams, and develop professional relationships and contacts.

Our organization benefits from student interns by growing our own staff in the skills of teaching, mentoring, project planning and management, as well as increasing diversity within our organization. Internships also provide future employment opportunities.

Our summer internship offerings are:

Community Learning Makerspace Internship – Provides opportunities to work and learn in a professional makerspace environment. As an intern, you will complete several projects to enhance your knowledge of makerspace equipment by teaching others or creating tutorials/guides, and assisting team members with class or project preparation. Two internships are available

Early Literacy Internship – Provides opportunities to learn Early Literacy practices and how they are utilized in a public library setting to support early childhood development, and lifelong learning opportunities. As an intern, you will complete several projects to enhance your knowledge of early literacy and child development, as well as education trends for young children. Two internships are available.

Collection Management Internship – Provides opportunities to assist with implementation of collection-related projects such as “Dewey-less” Nonfiction, Right-Sizing collections, and weeding. One internship is available.
