Picture Books Can Help Parents & Kids Talk about Tough Subjects

19 Nov Picture Books Can Help Parents & Kids Talk about Tough Subjects

November is picture book month. We all have our favorites and can remember that special book we shared with someone who loved us. Maybe we even read it over and over until it was memorized. But picture books can help young people and their parents find ways to talk about tough topics too. Occasionally, we are asked to help parents find books that deal with topics like death and parting.

NoveList contributor Kay Weisman created Parting and Passing, an annotated list featuring picture books that cover the topic of death in diverse ways, from heartwarming to sad to logical. With so many choices, this list is one that just about any parent can be comfortable using.  You can access NoveList quickly and easily through our Great Picks page. Search in NoveList: UI 443894
