03 May Make a Difference: Lend a Hand
Community volunteers of all ages came together recently to complete the second Make a Difference project. The Make a Difference series was generously funded by the Young Adult Library Services Association and Dollar General with the goal of teaching teens how to produce an item, which is then donated in the community.
The Lend a Hand event used volunteers from all over La Porte to 3D print parts for prosthetic hands. On Tuesday April 17th, over 35 volunteers gathered at the Main Library to assemble those parts into hands. The hands will be donated to an organization called Enabling the Future, which will distribute the hands to medical and physical therapy classrooms.
The next Make a Difference workshop will be on Tuesday May 8th at 3pm. Volunteers will be making rainbow themed bracelets to celebrate Pride Month in June. Teens are invited to help us complete this project!
