DIY Birdhouse Building

16 Mar DIY Birdhouse Building

Do you want to have a neighborhood of birds in your backyard? Build them a home “tweet” home at the La Porte County Public Library at  our DIY Birdhouse Building class at Rolling Prairie, Saturday, March 24 at 9:30am.

You can learn more about birdhouse building with these books,  The Great Birdhouse Book: Fun, Fabulous Designs You Can Build supplies instructions for building 28 creative birdhouses. Build A Better Birdhouse (Or Feeder): New Designs In Avian Architecture provides 25 easy-to-follow designs  that will make both birds and people happy.

The library is also a great source for material for learning about various types of local birds. On April 12, Larry Cadwell will present Raptors of Rolling Prairie, a program on local birds of prey and their habitats.

In the Indiana Room, our reference library, you can identify birds with The Birds Of Indiana. The reference section at Coolspring includes Birds of the Indiana Dunes. You can checkout field guides like Birds Of Indiana: Field Guide and bring them with you to identify birds in the wild.

If you have questions about any of the information presented here, or about the library in general, feel free to visit any of our seven locations or to call (219) 362-6156 to speak with a librarian.
