Celebrate Picture Book Month in November

02 Nov Celebrate Picture Book Month in November

Yay! November is picture book month. I hope we can all remember a favorite picture book. I know that my favorite to read aloud to my children or children here at the library is Cha, Cha Chimps by Julia Durango. Then I just remembered Shark in the Park by Nick Sharratt. Like m&ms, it’s too hard to have just one favorite picture book and thankfully, you don’t have to.¬† Picture Book Day founders, Dianne de Las Casas , Katie Davis, Elizabeth O. Dulemba , Tara Lazar , and Wendy Martin, put together their worldwide connections¬† as authors and illustrators to make this happen. Every day in November, there is a new post on picturebookmonth.com from a picture book champion explaining why he/she thinks picture books are important. Some of the authors and illustrators who will champion picture books in November are Alyssa Satin Capucilli, Pat Cummings, Lester Laminack, and many more.

Most importantly of all, share a picture book with someone. Stop in at the library to get our recommended picture books or to find your new favorite.
